Winter Sports Seasons Kick Off This Week

Last Monday was the official start date of boys and girls basketball season and having recently attended my 40th high school reunion, the thoughts of days gone by began piling up in my mind, thinking about ‘first days’ of the various sports I played in.

Area Athletes Earn D2-5 District Honors

The 2022 football season is over, but the accolades are still rolling in. The Bulldogs (8-2) and Storm (3-5) were well represented in the D2-5 District Football Honors, which were announced last week. Six Osceola players were selected to the All-District 1st Team.

Polk County Athletes See Success at College Level

SEWARD — After earning All-State honors in football at Osceola High, getting to the state individual wrestling finals in his Class C weight division, and making the state meet in the pole vault, Kyle Sterup had some choices to make as he thought of a possible college athletic career.

Storm Season Ends at District Final

SHELTON — High Plains traveled to Shelton to face the Bulldogs in a district final. The winner would advance to the state tournament in Lincoln. High Plains started out the first set well, getting ahead by as many as five points early on.

High Plains travels to Shelton for District Final

SHELTON — The Storm hits the road on Saturday looking to punch their ticket to Lincoln for a chance to play for a state title. High Plains (23-8) takes on No. 2 Shelton (29-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday in the D2-4 District Final. The winner advances to state.

High Plains Lose in Subdistricts

POLK — Tuesday evening High Plains hosted Exeter-Milligan for the third time this season. They were one and one, each having won a game. This one was for all the marbles. Addison Lindburg connects with a serve in the Subdistrict Final on Tuesday.
