ROBERTS RECEIVES CARING KIND AWARD

OSCEOLA - The Caring Kind Award, established by the Nebraska Hospital Association, annually honors employees of member hospitals who distinguish themselves by their caring and compassion. Hospitals across the state select a Caring Kind recipient from within their respective institutions.

McMeekin Wins Week 12

The winner of week twelve’s football contest is Todd McMeekin of Osceola who missed three.Coming in second was Nyal Rowse who missed five. Eight people missed six.There were 30 entries this week. The Huskers had a week off, but face Penn State at 6 PM on Saturday on NBC.

TWO YOUTH SELECTED FOR HONORARY CHOIR

Each year the Nebraska Choral Directors Association hold a few events. One is the Singing Youth of Nebraska. This event is by audition only. Over 500 youth aged 7th to 9th grade auditioned for this honor choir. A limit of 20 students per teacher is set for auditions.

NNTC Breaks Ground

Northeast Nebraska Telephone Company has broken ground in Polk County this last week. Construction is 50% done in the area, according to NNTC marketing manager Melissa Lanzourakis. Construction should finish in mid-January, weather permitting.

One Act: Huskies and Storm Champs

KEARNEY- Three of our teams competed at the 10th annual Mel Shoemaker Memorial Play Production Showcase in Kearney, a large one-act meet on Saturday.High Plains received first in their division and were awarded Outstanding Technical Production.

November 24Gresham Community Club will meet Monday, November 24th, at 7 p.m. at the Community Center and will decorate for Christmas.November 26-28 Centennial School will not have classes November 26, 27 and 28 for Thanksgiving break.

Village of Polk Meeting Report

The Village of Polk is down to just three trustee members. They are looking for one or two members before their next meeting. One member needs to be gone, and if anyone is gone, they don’t have quorum. Two people have volunteered on a short-term basis.

Grace Notes

A few weeks ago, while I was eating out, I was seated near a family that included several young children. Everyone seemed to be having a pleasant time eating together. The children all remained in their seats the entire time.
