Road Work on US 30, West of GI

Weather permitting, work will resume March 10 on US-30, west of Grand Island, from mile marker 308.84 to mile marker 312.55, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

The Polk County Fair is EARLY this year.July 9-13, 2025The Polk County Fair is early this year. Traditionally the Polk County Fair is the last full week of July.Not this year, as there were scheduling conflicts with the carnival and surrounding fairs.

Schoen Charged with Assault and Abuse

Brandon Schoen, age 36 of Osceola, was arrested and charged with assault and abuse after events that happened on Jan. 6th in Osceola.According to court documents, on Jan. 6th about 4:19 p.m.

CCO Jr. High and Little Cougars Qualify for State

Little Cougar Wrestling and CCO junior high wrestling competed at districts and several county grapplers qualified for state. Bob Orsborn has been coaching these junior high CCO wrestlers.

STROMSBURG – Many people know Tim Alvis as their art teacher. He taught art for 30 years at Cross County (Stromsburg/ Benedict), three years at Exeter before that, and four years at York College after.Recently Tim and Jodie Alvis purchased the “old library”.

Two Rivers Trout Lake Opens on March 8

The Two Rivers State Recreation Area Trout Lake (No. 5) in Douglas County will open March 8. The lake has been stocked with more than 7,500 12-inch rainbow trout.Anglers should know a regulation change starting this year gives them the option to practice catchand-release of the trout in this lake.
