OSCEOLA - After having the last lesson in May of 1955, it is time for the district 37 school building to come down. The original school building was located northeast of Osceola. No information can be found on when it was built and when it was first used as a school.

LINCOLN - Cross County boys made history last week, bringing home the third place trophy in Class C2 boys’ basketball. Cross County had never made it to state in boys’ basketball, and before consolidation, Stromsburg was in 1983 and Benedict in 1994.

High Plains Hosts Speech

The Storm’s home speech meet was a successful competition for the High Plains speech team. Madi Zerr was the POI Champion. Peyton Hofmann and Madi Zerr placed 3rd in Duet Acting. Rylee Hofmann placed 4th in Informative. Sammy Ertzner and Alyssa Wostrel placed 5th in Duet Acting.

Pancake Feed

The High Plains Community Storm Track and Field Team will be hosting a Pancake Feed Fundraiser on March 15, located in the junior high gym in Polk. Pancakes, sausage, and juice will be served. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. The track athletes are selling raffle tickets prior to the event.

NGPC Art Contest Deadline Extended

Good news for students entering the Nebraska Fish Art Contest, the deadline has been extended and additional activities are available to them. Students in kindergarten through 12th grade can discover the outdoors by participating in the contest.
