As we approach the 250th anniversary of our great nation, I often find myself reflecting on the miracle of the American experience. As a sixth‑generation Nebraskan, I am proud to call it home.

STROMSBURG - On Monday’s (June 8th) city council agenda was the “discussion of allowance of reptiles per Christen Dwerlkotte”.Dwerlkotte did not show up to the meeting, but the council discussed it.Section 6-203 of the city regulations prohibit “unusual animals”.

New Paintings in Buckley Park

STROMSBURG - New artwork is now in Buckley Park, displaying Stromsburg’s Swedish heritage and noting that services are free of charge.New artwork was placed on the east side of the RV pavilion (donation box sign), as well as on the two gables on the north side of the RV pavilion.

Shelby Library Summer Reading

The Shelby Community Library Summer Reading Program theme is "Dinosaurs - Unearth a Story". Story times will be Wednesdays in June from 10 AM to about 11 AM. The dates are June 3, 10, 17 and 24th. We will be reading books, making a fun craft and learning about dinosaurs.

SRC Special Meeting

MEETING NOTICEThe Shelby-Rising City board of education will meet on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026 at 6 PM in the board of education meeting room. The purpose of the meeting is to review resumes for the interim superintendent position and determine selection of interview candidates.
