Hello from the Polk Public Library! It’s been a long time since I have written so I hope I have been missed! I hope all of you have a very Blessed Thanksgiving! We all have a lot to be thankful for! The Library is getting ready for Christmas. Santa is coming to Polk this Sunday, December 3rd.

THE PRAIRIE DOC TV is flooded these days with commercials encouraging everyone to sign up for Medicare Advantage( MA). What is MA and why are they doing this? First of all, a bit of history.

Centennial Preschool, K - 2nd, 3rd – 4th, programs will be Friday, December 1st, 6:00, 6:45 and 7:45 p.m. Breakfast with Santa will be Saturday, December 2nd, from 9-10 a.m. at the Community Center. Monthly Senior Dinner will be Monday, December 4th, at noon at the Community Center.

Polk Christmas

Sunday, December 3rd Polk will have their holiday event. Santa will visit starting at 4 PM at the Polk community hall along with crafts, cookies and hot chocolate. Games at the fire hall will start at 4:30 PM along with hay rack rides. The trees will be lit at 5:30 PM.

Remembering The Good Shepherd

I follow a little hobby farm on Instagram that boasts chickens, fainting goats, sheep, alpacas, and more. But the stars of the videos are their livestock guardian dogs. They have three Anatolian Shepherds—a renowned livestock guardian breed—ranging from 110 to 170 lbs.

As a child, I spent hours each December poring over the pages of the Montgomery Ward Christmas catalog. My imagination ran wild as I read the descriptions and studied the pictures. And though I knew I would get very few (if any) of the items advertised, I had fun looking.

CAPITOL VIEW Just when you thought the drought was bad, deserts have started popping up in Nebraska. Pick a topic: childcare; food; maternal health care. They have been discussed in the interim by lawmakers and deserve to be included among bills under consideration next session.

Senator Lippincott to Speak in Stromsburg

State Senator Loren Lippincott will speak in Stromsburg on Monday, December 4th. The theme of his talk will be “Faith, Culture, and Citizenship.” Senator Lippincott lives on a farm near Central City and represents District 34.

“Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly….” That is what is happening at Midwest Covenant Home. It is hard to believe the Christmas Season is upon us already. My how time flies! The trees are in their places, wreaths and holly and other decorations fill the halls and rooms at Midwest Covenant Home.
