Special Youth Hunt Success

Nebraska youth got to experience a pheasant hunt as adult mentors took them afield for the state’s Special Youth Hunt on Oct. 21-22. The hunt took place on 19 sites, including wildlife management areas, where Nebraska Game and Parks released 9,110 roosters Oct. 20.

Health Dept. Moved & Pharmacy Open in County

The Polk County Health Department is in the process of moving to Stromsburg from Osceola. They started last Wednesday and are moving to the old Yungdahl’s Pharmacy location on the east side of the square. Trav’s U-Save Pharmacy in Osceola had a soft opening.

Inspiration Speaker with Local Ties to Speak at Veterans’ Day Program

Jon A. Rystrom, a Stromsburg 1973 graduate passed away in 1993 at the age of 38 while serving in the Navy. His aircraft crashed off the coast of Italy. His body, along with the other four crew members’ bodies, were never found. He left a wife and two daughters.

Jon Recker is the winner of week 9 missing only three games. Missing just four were Kent Fuller and Betty Shockley. The Louisville upset over Duke didn’t get many of you. People may not know Coastal Carolina as many picked Marshall. I only know Marshall from the movie.

Chilly Weather on Halloween

The Osceola Community Action Group hosted its Annual Osceola Spooktacular event on Sunday, October 29th. The event was moved indoors to the Polk County Fairgrounds due to the snow and cold weather conditions.

THE PRAIRIE DOC If you ever played baseball, you may have been told to “keep your eye on the ball.” When batting, a baseball player is taught to watch the ball the entire time from when it leaves the pitcher’s hand to when, hopefully, their bat smacks the ball for a hit.
