Bob McLaughlin Benefit

Bob McLaughlin recently went through a spinal surgery due to a narrowing of the spinal column. He is currently recovering and out of work for the foreseeable future. All money raised will go to Bob for his medical expenses, daily living costs and any other needs during his recovery.

Shelby Trunk or Treat

The Shelby Trunk or Treat will be on Saturday, October 28th on Walnut Street. Trick or treating will be begin at 3 PM. It will continue until 5 PM or until treats are gone. This is sponsored by the Shelby Chamber of Commerce, the Shelby Friends of the Library, area clubs and businesses.

Chamber Welcomes Bare Esthetics

Mackenzie Nuttelman opened her spa named BARE Esthetics in September. She also works in Lincoln and lives there. The spa is open on Fridays and Saturdays. She offers facials, body waxing and wedding makeup. Brow tinting and lash services are quite popular.

The writer puzzled often about old newspaper reports of a “Judge Munger” paying visits to Stromsburg back about a century ago. The name resonated. Thanks to an internet link from John Girard, passed along by PCHS president Charles Noyd, the puzzle is solved.

Marquee Painting Completed

Ten years ago a group of people from the Stromsburg Chamber of Commerce and Woman’s Club formed a committee to get an illuminated electronic welcome sign in the square next to the highway. Generous donations of $35,432.

Downtown Boo

Downtown Boo is Tuesday, October 31 from 4-6 pm. No registration necessary to participate! Businesses and organizations can set up a table, booth or game on the square. FFA Canned Food Drive Cross County FFAis going doorto- door trick-or-treating for canned goods for the Blue Valley food pantry.

Donut Shop Will Reopen

Daylight Donuts in Stromsburg will re-open when Pat is released from the doctor. They are sorry they have missed customers and want to get back to the shop.
