Pedicure clinics will be held at the Polk County Health Department the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month. Please call the health department at 402-747-2211 to make an appointment.

Osceola Named One of Top 25 Schools in Nebraska

US News and World Report has ranked the high schools in the United States. Nebraska has a graduation rate of about 90%. High school students in Nebraska must complete 200 credit hours or more to graduate and at least 80% must come from the core curriculum.

Carita Willits is the winner of the third week of the football contest. She only missed four games. Jon Recker only missed five and was closest on the yards. Others missing five include Debbie Schmoker, Gail Channer, Andy Vrbka, Mike Recker and Dean Wheeler.

Osceola Author Shares Her Struggles

Saturday Bonnie Lacy of Osceola presented her struggles with writing and publishing at the Stromsburg Library. She has been interested in opportunities like this but wasn’t sure how to contact libraries. She found the Nebraska Library Commission, which has a list of the 276 libraries in Nebraska.

30 Years of Quilting

The Quilters’Guild from Shelby have been gathering for 30 years and it’s time to celebrate! Come celebrate on Monday, September 25th at 7:30 p.m. at the Shelby Senior Center. The public is invited to attend. Enjoy a quilt show where members showcase their favorite quilts from the past 30 years.

Lake Ogallala Fishery to be Renovated This Fall

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has announced plans for a fall renovation of the Lake Ogallala fishery. Deteriorated aquatic habitat conditions and declining sportfish populations have prompted this renovation. To ensure safety, some temporary closures will be implemented.

This series grows out of the discovery of many boxes of items belonging to the Polk County Historical Society, but never cataloged or displayed. They were found in an obscure room off the kitchen of the Mickey mansion... what probably was once the pantry.
