July 4th Is Not a Religious Holiday

While there are certain holidays like Christmas and Easter that are definitely “religious” holidays, the 4th of July celebrating America’s Independence is not. So should Christians celebrate non-religious holidays? Of course, but we should still guard our faith.

City Wide Garage Sales

The United Methodist Church Women’s group will offer a lunch n the church’s fellowship hall from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. during Stromsburg’s City Wide Garage Sales. Come eat and avoid the heat while you relax in our air-conditioned fellowship hall!

Harmony Nursery Customer Appreciation

Harmony Nursery and Day Lily Farm is having Day Lily Days from July 5th to 22nd. The peak bloom time is the second week in July. They are hosting a customer appreciation on Friday July 7th from 2 to 5:30 p.m. TheAnna Street Trolley will have ice cream.

Booster Club Golf Tourney

The 18th annual golf tournament and fund raiser will be Saturday, July 22nd at Ryan Hill Country Club in Osceola. Registration begins at 8:30 AM with shotgun start at 9 AM. It’s a two-person scramble with flag and game prizes.

Library News

Summer means it’s time for our Summer Reading Programs—and summer hours! Now through August, the Osceola library will be open on Thursdays from 12:00-3:00 in addition to our regular hours. Children’s Summer Reading Program continues on Thursdays through July 6.

Car Show

There will be a car show on July 19 during the farmer’s market and on August 16. The event is sponsored by Midwest Street Rod Assocation East Central Chapter For questions, call Clayton Hoadley at 402-276-9235.

Library News

Storytimes The Shelby Community Library “All Together Now” Storytime will be on Thursdays, July 6th and 13th from 10am to 11am. We will be reading books, making a fun craft, and playing a game. Children ages preschool through 2nd grade are invited to attend. Hope to see you at the library!
