If you have been following “Grace Notes” for some time, as you read this week’s column you may find yourself saying, “I think I’ve read this before.” And you would be right! As I was perusing material to possibly use in this week’s column, I kept coming back thoughts I’d written previously.

Church Changes Abound in Local Area

The Benedict United Methodist Church is now called the Benedict Community Church. Wayne A. Nestor is the guest preacher for a few weeks. The new worship time is 8:30 a.m. Sunday School for adults will resume soon, and children’s Sunday School resumes during the school year.

UNL Announces Spring Dean’s List

LINCOLN, NE -- More than 6,400 University of Nebraska- Lincoln students have been named to the Deans’ List for the spring semester of the 2022-23 academic year. Qualification for the Deans’ List varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Explore Center.

Fireworks Sales Begin Locally

Firework sales started Sunday in Nebraska and Polk County was no exception. Shelby has a stand right off the main intersection of highways 81 and 69. Stromsburg has one near the Polk County RPPD office on Third Street.

One-Time Early Deadline

Due to July 4th occurring on Tuesday, the Polk County News would like all news, ads and notices by 5 PM on MONDAY, July 3rd. The Polk County News will close at NOON on Tuesday, July 4th so we can celebrate with our families. Normal hours will resume on Wednesday July 5th.
