Nebraska Game & Parks Programs in May

Wise & Wild program for seniors who love outdoors Wise & Wild is a program designed for seniors age 55 and up who love the outdoors and want to enjoy time in the parks. A different hour-long nature-related program is held each Thursday at 1 p.m. in a Venture Park.

REPRESENTING YOU America currently faces the worst drug crisis in our nation’s history. In 2021, 106,000 Americans died of a drug overdose – nearly 70,000 because of fentanyl. Fentanyl is now the leading cause of death among Americans aged 18-45. The precursors to fentanyl are produced in China.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month

LINCOLN – April is Alcohol Awareness Month and the Division of Behavioral Health in Nebraska’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has an important message about alcohol use. For those struggling with alcohol use and/or any other addiction -- help is available and recovery is possible.

Wireless tools, such as cell phones, have become a big part of our lives. We can stay in touch with friends and family using texts, messages, emails, phone calls, video calls, or social media. Questions can be answered as quickly as we can type.

AWANA Wraps up their 42nd year

AWANA Clubs of Stromsburg recently wrapped up their 42nd year. Commander Tracy Nyberg conducted the award program. Theme nights included Bible hero, long line night (bringing food to donate to the mission), camp night, Christmas giving night and spot your leader. They had sixteen counsel speakers.

Spring in Nebraska is truly unpredictable, yet it is refreshing. One resident was telling he counted 25, yes 25, robins in the yard outside his window the other morning. Then in a breath, they were gone. He loves to look out his window in the mornings to see what creatures are stirring.

STROMSBURG— Polk County has an independent custom publishing company, Electric Moon Publishing. The company was started in 2008 when e-books were all the rage, and people thought they were going to take over printed books. The original owner hired Laree Lindburg.
