POLK — A High Plains senior has been selected as one of the winners in U.S. Senator Ben Sasse’s photography contest. Roberta Hines, 17, of Polk said she never really took photography seriously before this year. “It’s just something I have always done in my free time,” she said.

OSCEOLA — The Osceola Library has vintage library cards hung on their Christmas tree. These cards date back to the 1940s, and go until 2014 when they implemented their computer system.

SHELBY— Local farmer Doug Moon recently directed a $5,000 Bayer Fund America’s Farmers Grow Communities donation to Shelby-Rising City Public Schools FFA Program. SRC’s FFA program will use the funds to Bovine Breeder artificial insemination simulator.
