First Friday Concert Returns to City Square

STROMSBURG — The Dog Days of Summer are here and Friday will conclude another season of the First Friday concert series. Bordertown takes the stage Friday night on the Stromsburg Town Square. Enjoy their music from 6-9 p.m. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair.

Back to School Time is Here

It’s that time of year again. We turned the calendar to August, and now it’s Back To School time! The time parents love and kids hate. When I was a kid, my favorite part of back to school time was the shopping.

Polk Library

Not a lot happening in Polk these days. Vacation Bible School is over and people are getting ready to start back to school. With it being so hot outside, the library is a GREAT place to cool off. Come and check out our new books and look around to see what the library has to offer.

Golf Scramble to Helps Pay Camp

The third annual Dennis Gray Memorial 4-Person Golf Scramble returns at 9 a.m. Saturday. The scramble is at Valley View Golf Course in Central City. Proceeds from the scramble help offset the cost for High Plains students attending summer camps for athletic and other activities.

I was STUNNED by the total for my recent grocery purchase, even briefly wondering if the clerk “knows CPR”! However, I must “fess up” for also having included toothpaste and a cute ball for our Toy Poodle within our food purchases.
