Booster Club Steak Fry set for Saturday SHELBY — The Shelby-Rising City Booster Club Steak Fry is Saturday, Aug. 6 from 6-10 p.m. at the Shelby Legion Club. Couple tickets are $65 at the door. Individual tickets are $45 at the door. Tickets get you a steak dinner and membership to booster club.

School Lunch Program

Cross County Schools has been notified by the Nebraska Department of Education Nutrition Services that student breakfast and lunch meals will no longer be free. Please plan accordingly. The Board of Education has not raised lunch or breakfast prices for students in three years.

C. G. Johnson Reunion

The Carl Gustaf Johnson reunion will be held in Buckley Park on Saturday, August 6th with a potluck lunch starting at 12:30 p.m. The Sandin branch will be the serving committee.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Local students have been named to the Bethel University Dean’s List for academic excellence for the spring 2022 semester. The Dean’s List honors students who achieve an outstanding scholastic record during a semester with a grade point average of 3.6 or greater.

Folkets Vän

For several years it has been my privilege to conduct a tour of Stromsburg as part of the Swedish Midsommer Festival. The small bus has been generously provided by Midwest Covenant Home. It seemed worthwhile to make notes of this tour.

Shoppe Hours Changing

Beginning this week, the Res-Q-Shoppe will only be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. No more donations at the present time until further notice. All clothing, shoes and purses will be FREE until Aug. 12. Stop in and pick out a new wardrobe.
