City employees may see raise

OSCEOLA — Employees for the city of Osceola could see a pay bump next year. The Osceola City Council is considering at least two different options for raises. One option would give city employees a 3 percent raise. Another option would be to bump all employees the same dollar amount per hour.

The deadline has come and gone for incumbents seeking to run for re-election for seats on local village boards in this year’s election cycle. Incumbent candidates had to file their intentions before the end of the business day on Friday.

Malfunctioning Appliance Leads to Kitchen Fire

STROMSBURG — Firefighters responded to a kitchen fire on Monday at the home southwest of Stromsburg near the old location of Durant. Stromsburg Fire Chief Tim Pallas said that fire started because of a malfunctioning appliance in the kitchen of the home owned by Tom and Barb Rodene.

Osceola Selects Engineer for Fox Run Project

OSCEOLA — The city of Osceola is one step closer to breaking ground on the Fox Run subdivision project. Wednesday, July 13, the Osceola City Council received presentations from two engineering firms hoping to be selected by the city.
