Recent transition at the Polk County News helm inspired thoughts of the past, further fueled by last week’s reference to Mike McCoy within “the Record Files.” I recall my having met Bill and Jan Thompson of Stromsburg, then publishers of the Polk County News and maintaining an office in Osceola.

Golf for CC Booster Club

The Cross County Booster Club is gearing up for the 17th annual Golf Tournament and Fund-raiser. Two-person teams can sign-up now for the July 23 scramble at Ryan Hill Country Club. The cost is $60 per person and lunch is included. Players can have a mulligan for $10 per person.

Swede Home Ice Cream Social

I scream, YOU scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM!! What was once a celebration of church members has grown into an Ice Cream Social for all the towns in the county and surrounding area. The ice cream social will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday afternoon, July 17.
