Kyla Brockevelt Joins Staff at LARM

Kyla Brockevelt is the new Executive Administrative Assistant. She worked for almost 18 years as a manager of a Lincoln childcare facility. She has an associate degree in early childhood education.

It is a beautiful morning even if it is going to be warm later in the day. Monday Stromsburg won the county pitch tournament and today the business meeting was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Bingo will be played at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon. Enjoy the game and have a good time at the center.

Craft time is often a favorite time for some of our residents. We are currently working on projects to be submitted at the Polk County Fair. One of our projects we did this week was repurposing old pieces of jewelry into art.

Blood Pressure Clinics

Clinics to monitor blood pressure will also be held at the Polk County Health Department in Osceola, every 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Walk-ins are welcome any day during office hours.

Children’s Immunization Clinics

The Polk County Health Department will hold immunization clinics at the Polk County Health Department, Osceola, NE, on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, and Monday, July 18, 2022, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. An appointment is required for compliance to the COVID-19 directives.

Pedicure Clinic is Wednesday

Pedicure clinics will be held at the Polk County Health Department the 1st Wednesday morning and 3rd Wednesday afternoon of every month. Please call the health department at 402-747- 2211 to make an appointment.

West Nile Virus is the leading disease carried by mosquitos in the continental United States. It is spread through the bite of a mosquito that has picked up the virus by feeding on an infected bird. In turn, the mosquito can pass the virus to humans.

Ice Cream Social Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home is having an Ice Cream Social from 6-8 p.m. Sunday on the lawn at 950 129th Rd., Stromsburg. They will serve homemade ice cream with toppings and assorted bars and cookies. Free will donations will be accepted.

Weekend in Osceola was 150 years in the making

OSCEOLA — This last weekend Osceola celebrated its 150th year! The city was founded in October 1871 but due to COVID the celebration was moved to July 4th weekend in 2022 Friday evening the Legion Auxiliary veterans’ bench was dedicated at the cemetery.
