Gresham Library

Gresham Library will have summer reading on Saturdays in July from 9 to 11 a.m. Summer reading will include story hour, crafts, guest speakers, science experiments, prizes and more! This is open to all ages of children.

Gresham Presbyterian Church

The Gresham Presbyterian Church will host preaching in the Blackbird Park in Gresham on Sunday July 10th at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome.

Polk Library

The Polk Public Library is planning a mystery/riddle party for ages 4 to 12 years of age on Wednesday, July 20th from 1:00 to 2:30 at the Polk Library. Come and solve the mysteries and riddles and enjoy a snack with us!! Please RSVP to 402-363-7035 before July 15th so I know how many to plan on.

Celebrating 85 Years of the NSP

In 1937, the Nebraska Safety Patrol was formed to address the rising problem of crashes on our state’s roads. Eighty-five years later, that organization still stands—now known as the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP). Their mission to help keep our communities and citizens safe hasn’t wavered.

TEN YEARS AGO July 5, 2012 Rick Davis of Shelby sold his 1948 Chevrolet 2-ton farm truck on Ebay to a guy in Nottingham, England. The truck will travel to the east coast on a trailer, and then by boat to England.

TEN YEARS AGO July 5, 2012 DLG Designs held their first open house. DLG Designs is a sewing/quilting business by Deb Girard. Deb hosts classes and has fabric and other sewing accessories for sale. Osceola 14 and under placed fourth at a tournament, losing to number one seed High Plains Storm.

Summer Reading is coming to the Osceola Public Library! The theme is Oceans of Possibilities and it will take place on Thursdays through July 14th from 10-11 a.m.

Osceola Farmer’s Market

Osceola’s Farmers Market will begin on Wednesday, July 13th and run from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The weekly markets will also be held on July 27th and August 3rd, 10th and 17th. If you are interested in being a vendor, please contact Debbie (John) Girard or Vicki Jones for more information.

True coffee lovers remain loyal to those relished cups of steamy “Joe” even amid summer’s heat and humidity. But we find “exceptions to every rule,” as I well recall our (late) neighbor Marlene LeSuer having LOVED her coffee OVER ICE!
