Clean-Up Week in Osceola

The Osceola Q150 Committee will be hosting a Clean-Up week in collaboration with Osceola Community Action Group, The City of Osceola, and Osceola Public Schools. Together, we will be participating in Keep Nebraska Beautiful Day on June 25th.

TEN YEARS AGO June 14, 2012 Preparations were underway for the 2012 Swedish festival. The parade Grand Marshall was Lee Nelson, who interviewed many local veterans and videotaped it with help. Those video tapes were available at the library.

Quilt of Valor Awarded to Jim McLean

Jim McLean served in the Navy reserve from 1952 to 1956, then he joined the Coast Guard and was active duty from 1956-1960. After that he served in the Coast Guard reserves from 1960-1968. He was commissioned in 1957.

William Fetters Day June 25th

Saturday June 25th will be a day to honor the oldest Civil War veteran in Polk County, William Fetters. Festivities will start at 4:00 p.m.

Help Needed to Set Up for Festival

Many hands are needed to help set up for festival. Students involved in weight lifting as well as the football team are asked to help with this project, as well as members of the community. Work starts at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16th.

The school board held their monthly board meeting on Monday, June 13th. The board approved updating Policy 6018 “Grades” so that it aligned with student handbooks and Power-School.

Barn Raffle Proceeds go to Swede Home Flagpoles

Do your children or grandchildren like barns? Or maybe you are a collector? The Son’s of the American Legion Post 132 are raffling a barn during the Swedish Festival. The barn is made of reclaimed redwood and the rocks are from Eagle Mountain Lake.
