A Brief History of National Nurses’ Week

1953 Dorothy Sutherland of the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare sent a proposal to President Eisenhower to proclaim a “Nurse Day” in October of the following year. The proclamation was never made. 1954 National Nurse Week was observed from October 11 - 16.

Graduation

It’s an exciting time of year. The robes, mortar boards, and tassels are on display as Nebraska’s graduates are celebrating with their friends and loved ones. I am always so encouraged to see our state’s young people succeed and pursue new opportunities.

All-Around Activities Student Award

The All-Around Activities Student Award is awarded to one female and one male in high school who are active in multiple activities or sports and exhibit leadership, sportsmanship, and dedication to the school. Receiving this award were Trevor Carlstrom (left) and Kyleigh Farley (right).

3 X 4 Award Winners

The 3 x 4 Award is awarded to seniors who compete in three sports for all four years of high school.

Soule Named to CSC Dean’s List

CHADRON, NE (05/03/2022)-- Chadron State College has announced that 346 students met requirements for the Dean’s List for Fall 2021 by earning at least a 3.5 grade point average.

TEN YEARS AGO May 10, 2012 The Gresham Q125 photography contest was announced with four age divisions. The themes were “Scenes from my Hometown” and “Celebrating Freedom”. In addition photos could be displayed as “vintage photos” or “professional photos” and would not be judged.

Mother’s Day callers of Shirley Richter were Tom and Judi Luettel. On Sunday Susie Tonniges joined Matt and Staci Bolton, Mackenzie and Chance at a Lincoln restaurant where they dined out for Mother’s Day.
