BVCA Partnership Announces Scholarship Recipients

Blue Valley Community Action Partnership (BVCA) is pleased to announce the recipients of the “Blue Valley Community Action Partnership Scholarship”, the “BVCA Partnership Vocational Scholarship” and the BVCA Partnership SCC Scholarship for the 2021-2022 school year.

Chamber Recognizes Larsson’s Dala Butik

Sherri Georges started her business in 2017, while she was still teaching second grade at Shelby-Rising City Schools. She went around to businesses asking if they carried Swedish items, and if it was okay if she could start a business selling Swedish merchandise.

Swedish Dinner & Silent Auction Planned

The Stromsburg Q150 committee has another event planned. It is a Swedish dinner and silent auction on Saturday, May 21st at the Viking Center. The silent auction and appetizers will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with the dinner following at 6:30 p.m.

Ostkaka & Lace Cookie Classes

An opportunity will be available for all interested in learning one of the ways to make ostkaka (a Swedish dessert). There will be two classes taught on Saturday, May 21st at the Rose Colored Glass. The morning class will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the afternoon class will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Swedish Midsommmar Festival Coloring Contest

The Stromsburg Swedish Midsommar Festival Committee will be sponsoring a coloring contest for the month of May. We are encouraging children from ages 3-14 to participate in the contest! It will be fun! There is one entry form for ages 3-7 and a different entry form for ages 8-14.

Covenant Home Clips

Oh how wonderful to have the rain on our dry and parched ground! The Midwest Covenant Home residents were rejoicing with the staff to see the rain fall. Prayers are being answered. The daffodils shining their bright yellows are dancing with the much need moisture.
