Swedish Midsommmar Festival Coloring Contest

The Stromsburg Swedish Midsommar Festival Committee will be sponsoring a coloring contest for the month of May. We are encouraging children from ages 3-14 to participate in the contest! It will be fun! There is one entry form for ages 3-7 and a different entry form for ages 8-14.

Stromsburg Chamber of Commerce Shred Event

The Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a shred event on Monday May 2nd from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Polk County RPPD on highway 81. Each car receives the first 75 pounds FREE. Additional material destroyed for 15 cents a pound payable to Paper Tiger (cash or check).

A new discovery from historical journal researchers really got my attention. It has to do with that building in Stromsburg on the northeast corner of the square called “Wilson.” An energetic immigrant thought a Latin-sounding last name would be good for this “new world,” as did many others.

Community Fishing Events

Join the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for another spring and summer of fun with Community Fishing Events. Community Fishing Events provide opportunities for people of all ages who have never fished or have not fished in years to learn and enjoy the activity.

Hild Selected for CVA Scholarship

Central Valley Ag (CVA) is pleased to announce winners of the 2022 CVA Scholarships. Twenty students pursuing a career in an agriculturally related field won awards of $1,000 each. Haiden Hild of Stromsburg was one of the recipients. He will graduate from Cross County Schools in May.

Anniversary

Ron and Sharon Christensen married on Easter Sunday in 1962 at Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk, Nebraska. They met at Norfolk Junior College and married a couple weeks before Ron graduated from Midland Lutheran.
