Randal Scott Hopwood

Randal Scott Hopwood, age 54, died on January 23, 2026, after an extended illness.

Visitation will be 9-10:30 AM on Saturday, February 14th with his funeral service at 10:30 AM, all at Faith Lutheran Church in Rising City.

Randy was born May 5, 1971 in Osceola. He was confirmed in 1985 at Faith Lutheran Church. Many summers were spent in 4-H showing cattle at the fair. He played baseball, football and basketball. He graduated from Shelby Public School in 1989, going on to attend Southeast Community College.

Randy liked farming and worked at that a few years in Nebraska and Colorado. He then starting working on construction, operating large dirt-moving equipment. He continued that for years. In leisure time he played a little golf, enjoyed hunting and spending time with friends.

He is survived by his parents (Dave and Barb Hopwood of Rising City), brother Russell (Nicki) of Omaha and their family, sister Jordan (Dylan) Javorsky and their children Harper, Luke and Hadley; and Kelby, Grace and Wyatt all of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert and Arlene Linda and Dale and Dolores Hopwood.

The family suggests in place of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Nebraska Lutheran School of Waco, or the fire departments of Rising City or Shelby.
