Daniel was born April 25, 1945 in Osceola, Nebraska to Bill and Myrtle (Nelson) Wieseman. He attended District 7 grade school, and graduated from Osceola High School in 1964. He then attended UNL, and the University of Nebraska in Kearney where he received his Bachelors degree in Psychology.

On August 30, 1969, he was united in marriage to Peggy Ann Larson at the United Methodist Church in Central City. Two children were born to this union, son Shawn and daughter Jennie. They lived in the Fairview community for many years, moving to Osceola in 1980. Dan was a lifelong farmer and raised hogs, and cattle. Dan made his daily trips to the farm after moving into town. His love for farming started at young age, farming alongside his dad and brother, Mike. Son Shawn farmed with him for a few years and now grandson Chase continues on with the farming duties.

Dan loved going for coffee, you might find him in Osceola, Shelby or Stromsburg and visiting with whoever might be there that day. He loved going for rides and one never knew where Norman and he might set out for on any given day. He enjoyed flying with Chris Hays scouting farms and feedlots, going out to eat, especially to Dairy Queen for a meal deal and root beer float. Dan loved to fish and was always anxious to cast a pole in the water and see what he might catch. For many years he hunted deer on the island and several guys made their way there to try to find that big buck. You could also find him at the casino, enjoying eating, only winning and people watching. He especially enjoyed following Kenzie in volleyball and this last year in basketball. He was always very interested in his grandchildren and what they were doing. They were his greatest joy and he was very proud of them. He was also a big sports fan, participating in sports in high school and of course loved following our Husker football team.

Dan was a past member of the Osceola School Board, the Masonic Lodge in Silver Creek and Osceola, Fairview United Methodist Church, transferring his membership to Osceola after the Fairview Church burned.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Peg, married almost 57 years; son Shawn (Staci) Wieseman, daughter Jennie Bartling; grandchildren, Connor Bartling, Chase Bartling (fiance Hailey Lindburg), Kenzie Bartling, and Jake Wieseman; sister Beth (Keith) Schmit of Rising City; in-laws Dave and Jody Schaecher, Jim Larson, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
