Connie Abbott

Connie Jo (Dunning) Abbott, age 77 of Blair, passed away August 25, 2025 at her home in Blair. Memorial services will be held Friday, September 5, 2025 at 10:30AM at First United Methodist Church in Blair. A luncheon will follow. Connie will be laid to rest with her husband, John in the Blair Cemetery at a later date.

Connie was born October 4, 1947 the daughter of Virgil and Valarya Dunning. She was born and raised in Shelby, Nebraska and attended and graduated from Shelby High School in 1965. On November 20, 1965, she married her high school sweetheart, John D Abbott. The family grew to include Bradley James in 1972 and Tyrell Lynn in 1974, and many special pets throughout the years. Connie worked for many years as an elementary school secretary within the Blair Community Schools. She developed many life-long friendships during her time at the school. Over the years she also worked for Great Plains Communications in Blair, The State Department of Roads while in Lincoln, PREMA in Alliance, Nebraska and for Attorney C. Neil Sutton in Blair.

Connie loved to travel with John D, especially to Estes Park, Colorado to enjoy the fall aspen colors, blue skies and elk activity. In her free time she enjoyed reading, gardening and her gambling trips.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, husband John D Abbott, and sister Aletta Kearney. She is survived by her children, Bradley James (Heather) Abbott of Elkhorn, Tyrell Lynn Abbott of Blair; and grandchildren, Asia Alston,AmbrosiaAlston, Matthew Meredith, Ethan Abbott and Madelyn Abbott; great-grandchildren; Harper and Hadlie D Kohrt, sister Vicki Ray of Thedford, Nebraska and her beloved feline Meana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be directed in Connie’s name to the Jeanette Hunt Animal Shelter or the Blair Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
