Glenn D. Arbogast May 9, 1940 - Dec. 27, 2025
Glenn D. Arbogast, 85, of York, NE passed away December 27, 2025. Born on a farm near Codell, Kansas on May 9, 1940 to Oran and Rena Arbogast. He wed Shirley Eileen Arbogast (Beckley) on December 19, 1959 and they celebrated 66 years of marriage this year.
Throughout his life, faith, family and friends were most important. His love and thoughtfulness always shined through in the time he spent with them. He built close friendships through dedication to the community and the surrounding area.
Glenn was active throughout life serving others, whether he was coaching baseball, leading Boy Scouts, guiding kids in 4-H, or mentoring his nephews and son who chose to work for him. He was active in community service organizations including Lions Club, Masons, and Shriners. He was also a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the American Legion Riders. He served his church as Methodist Men’s Treasurer.
He enjoyed traveling and visiting family throughout the country, especially on his Victory motorcycle. He often enjoyed cheering on his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids participating in numerous activities. He stayed active playing pickleball. Glenn also loved the camaraderie of coffee with the boys.
Glenn attended Webster High School and graduated from Brewster High School in Kansas and maintained friendships with those classmates throughout the years. He loved his country and served in the US Navy from 1959-1963.
Upon leaving the Navy, Glenn and Shirley built their family and career. Glenn started working for Culligan Soft Water in Stockton, Kansas in 1963. They moved to work for the York, Nebraska Culligan dealership in 1971, and bought into the business starting in 1976, owning it until they retired in 2016.
Glenn is survived by his wife Shirley; daughter Cynthia Miller ofYork; son David (Tara)Arbogast of Lincoln; grandchildren Aliesia (Chuck Widbin) Arbogast-Eilers of Aviston, IL, Joshua (Carmen) Arbogast of Killeen, TX, James Arbogast of Lincoln, Sean (Crystal) Arbogast of North Platte, Hannah Miller of New Ulm, MN, Ally Miller of Kearney, Madelyn Alexa (Forrest) Mueller of Holland, MI,AJ (Katelyn)Arbogast of Lincoln, Megan (Micah) Soldatke of Lincoln, Katelyn Robey of Nashville, TN; great-grandchildren Codyn, Cambri, Cali, Calvin, Aryana, Oliver, Amelia, Anthony, Scarlett, Evee, Emmitt, Rosanna, Levi, and Noah; and great-great granddaughter Andrea; brother Jack Arbogast of Downs, KS, as well as many other beloved family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Richard Alan; brothers Dale and Leigh; sisters Emaline (Kennedy), Rose (Carda), and Barbara.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2026 at the First United Methodist Church in York. Interment with military honors will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday with his family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. that same evening all at the mortuary in York. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests memorials to be sent to pancreatic cancer research in honor of his granddaughter.
