Mark King

Body

Mark Charles King was born December 14, 1961, in Omaha, NE to Charles and Judy King. He went to be with Jesus on June 21, 2026, surrounded by family.

Mark spent over 42 years as an insurance broker, taking care of his clients with dedication and a steady hand, but those who knew him best will remember that work was only one part of his story. He brought a goofy, fun-loving energy wherever he went, never missing a chance to make someone laugh or lighten the mood. The golf course was one of his favorite places to be, as much for the jokes and good company as for the game itself.

He had a special gift for giving out nicknames—often unexpected, always memorable—and if you had one, you knew you were part of his circle. Time with family was what he cherished most, filling gatherings with humor, stories, and plenty of laughter. He was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan, cheering them on with pride and just the right amount of playful commentary.

Above all, his life was grounded in his love for Jesus, which guided how he lived and how he treated others. He was endlessly fun-loving, had a special ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and never took life too seriously—qualities that reflected both his joyful spirit and his faith. His humor, warmth, and unwavering belief leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Mark is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jean King; his children Christina (Tyler) Elder, Michael (Andrea) King and Katie (Geoff) Oliphant; his grandchildren Jocelyn, Taytum, Turner, Luca, Grayson, Isla, Asher and Nico; his mother Judy, his siblings Scott (Patti) King and Kendra (Jonathan) Davidson; brother-in-law Scott (late Kirstin) Gerrard and sister-in-law Laura (Jeff) Gerrard-Bauman; father and mother-in-law LeRoy and Grace Gerrard.

Mark is preceded in death by his father Charles.
