REPORTER’S NOTEBOOK Today is my 41st birthday. My kids are more excited about it than I am. For me, it is just another Wednesday. I go to work and I spend most of my day in the office working on newspaper stuff. But to my kids a birthday means cake and ice cream.

BETH’S BITS As we just got about a foot of snow, this reminds me of memories of snow. When I was a freshman in college, Halloween was canceled due to snow. When I was teaching school, I got two days off in April (around the 10th) due to snow.
