Bulldogs Take a Bite Out of Dragons

OSCEOLA – It’s time for Friday night football again, and Osceola was ready. The Dawgs beat the Dragons 22-8.They held the Dragons scoreless for the first three quarters. However the Dragons started to “beat up” on the defense, causing a couple small injuries in the third and fourth quarters.

Lady Dawgs Start Out With Wins

OSCEOLA – The Lady Dawgs hosted the Palmer Tigers and Heartland Huskies in a triangular Thursday. Osceola came out the big winner, over Palmer in two sets and Heartland in three.First up was Heartland. Osceola took the first set 25-20, with the Huskies battling back for the second one 25-18.

Bulldog Football Excited to Start

OSCEOLA - After a 7-2 season, winning districts and losing five seniors, Osceola football is excited to begin another season.The team spent the summer attending several team camps, working in the weight room and participating in passing camp at Shelby-Rising City in July.

Slammers Return Talent & Move Up to Class B

STROMSBURG – Changes abound for the Polk County Slammers softball team, with a move up to the Class B division and a new battery on tap, but a host of returning standouts give co-head coaches Johanna Nielsen and Macy Jones a lot of offensive punch this fall.

All-Star Basketball at Centennial Features 5 Locals

UTICA - Twenty-one players from twenty schools played in the Centennial girls’ all star game on Friday night. One of those was Emma Recker from Osceola. She was on the red team.After a first quarter tie at 14, and the game going back and forth, red came out with the win 63-48.

Summer Slammers Veteran Farewell Tour Going Strong

BROKEN BOW – Justin Sunday may not miss the late-night weekend return trips once the 2024 summer softball season ends in two weeks. But thinking about his team’s recent success – along with the privilege of coaching his kids – caused a poignant pause as he considered the long but successful journey.

Sertoma 8-Man All Star Game Features 4 Local Players

HASTINGS - Four seniors were selected to play in the Sertoma 8-man all star football game held Saturday evening in Hastings.
The summer Polk County Slammers won districts by winning four games over the weekend and qualify for state! They won Class C District 5 for 18 and under. Currently they are 12-3 and play at Twin River on Tuesday the 18th, followed by a home game on Wednesday the 19th. State will be in Hastings at the softball complex on July 5-7. Photo provided.
