Osceola Football Has High Hopes for the 2023 Season

The Bulldogs made it to the second round of playoffs last year, and lost a heartbreaking game against the Bloomfield Bees. They return some key players, but have some shoes to fill losing four seniors who made large contributions.

District assignments announced

The Nebraska School Activities Association has announced fall district assignments. Cross County, High Plains, Osceola and Shelby-Rising City athletes now know what schools they will have to compete against for an opportunity to go to state.

Osceola 10 and Under Finish Their Season

The Osceola 10-u boys baseball team finished their season with a devastated loss in the opening round of the league tournament, 5-4 to David City 2. In their final game of the regular season, we would win our 4th game in a row, 9-4 over Aurora 3, to raised their record to 5-5.

Osceola Tee Ball Season is a Success

Summer T-ball season ended for 23 boys and girls participating in Osceola. Split into Pre-K and Kindergarten groups, the kids and coaches practiced for 6 weeks. The focus of the Pre-K group was to teach basic skills and to understand the sport.

Slammers Shine One Last Time in All-Star Game

COLUMBUS — Hollywood could not have scripted it better. Two members of the Polk County Slammers, along with three of their coaches, took part in the 17th annual Central Community College All-Star game last week.

Zelasney Plays in GI & Columbus All-Star Games

GRAND ISLAND – What a way to go out. Isaiah Zelasney completed his summer farewell tour last week, taking part in a pair of all-star games.

ATHLETES OF THE YEAR

Liberty Baker excelled in volleyball and track during her career. She led the volleyball team in kills, and led the track team with three medals in every meet. She will continue both sports at York University. Isaiah Zelasney has had quite the athletic career in football, basketball and track.

Osceola Girls Take the District Title

Osceola hosted the Class D-2 district track meet with eleven teams competing. The Lady Storm scored 18 points for tenth place, and the Lady Bulldogs scored 124 points to become the district champion. They were twenty points ahead of the second-place team, East Butler.

Osceola, High Plains boys heading to state

Osceola hosted the Class D-2 district track meet with eleven teams competing. Osceola boys came in fourth place with 50 points, and just edging them out was High Plains in third with 73 points.

STROMSBURG — The Cross County track invitational was held on a warm windy Thursday. Nine boys and girls teams participated. The Polk County girls came in second, third and fourth behind Nebraska Christian.
