DORCHESTER — The Longhorns were too much on Tuesday, as the Bulldogs dropped a road match in four sets.
Osceola (4-10) would drop the first set 25-14 before turning it around in the second set. Dorchester would pull out a win in the back-and-forth second set, edging Osceola 26-24.

OSCEOLA — The Bulldogs were ready to go on their home turf, rolling in with a touchdown by Kale Gustafson with only a few minutes off the clock. The Palmer Tigers quickly tied it up getting a touchdown with 5:41 left in the first quarter.

DAVID CITY — Polk County and Blue River each went 1-2 on the day at the David City Invite on Saturday, each dropping games to some of the best teams in the state.
Polk County opened the day with a 2-1 win over Mercy.

Slammers run out of time against No. 2 Bluehawks

HASTINGS — Polk County split a pair of games on Thursday, falling to Class C No. 2 St. Cecilia 5-4 and winning a come from behind game against Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan, 7-4.
The Slammers (14-6) were behind 3-0 in the fourth inning before they scored their first run against the Panthers.

Osceola falls in four sets at Hampton

HAMPTON — Osceola volleyball fell to Hampton on Thursday in four sets.
The match was close for most of the night, with the Bulldogs taking the second set before falling 25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 25-17.
Osceola (4-9) is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Dorchester.

Area teams gear-up for week 4 football

NO. 2 COUGARS LOOK TO STAY UNBEATEN
As area high school football teams prepare for the fourth week of the season, Class D-1 No. 2 Cross County is the only county school to remain unbeaten.
The Cougars (3-0) are averaging 64 points per contest and have scored over 70 points in the last two weeks.

No. 9 Cougars sweep Bulldogs, Mustangs

STROMSBURG — Cross County walked away with two more wins on Tuesday, defeating Osceola and McCool Junction, both in straight sets.
The Class C-2 No. 9 Cougars (6-0) made quick work of the Bulldogs, 25-13, 25-5. Earlier in the night, the Cougars easily got by the Mustangs, 25-8, 25-14.

Slammers split with Gothenburg, Kearney Catholic

GOTHENBURG — Polk County split games Tuesday, falling 13-1 to Gothenburg before bouncing back for a 10-8 come-from-behind win over Kearney Catholic.
The Slammers were held to just four hits in the three-inning loss to the Swedes. Polk County batters struck out six times in the contest.

OSCEOLA — Every play matters and Osceola found that out the hard way Friday night as the Bulldogs lost in overtime to St. Francis, 38-36.
The Bulldogs missed a pair of two-point conversions, the first in the fourth quarter and the second in overtime.

Huskies Edge Bulldogs at Invite

OSCEOLA — Osceola and Shelby-Rising City faced-off Saturday at the Osceola Invite, with the Huskies getting the better of the Bulldogs, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21.
The Huskies went 2-1 on the day, getting a win over Palmer, 25-13, 25-12, before dropping 25-19, 25-21 match to Riverside.
