Backpack Program Quietly Serves Families

There are 86 local kids not going hungry this holiday season thanks to the Backpack Program. The Backpack Program, originating in Lincoln, is locally sponsored by A Place At the Table Inc.
Because of several generous donors, the High Plains Community School was able to raise $13,100 for the Book Blast. This money will go directly to the students to build their home libraries. Above and Below: High Plains Elementary students proudly display their new books.

The Polk County Historical Society hosted a quilt and art show at the museum on Sunday afternoon. Approximately 50 visitors came to view the art and quilts. There were 15 quilts and several pieces of art from eight local artists.
