Moms in Prayer Covers Schools in Prayer Weekly

A local group of moms and grandmas meet in homes and churches to pray over our schools. Moms in Prayer International is a global ministry with praying groups in over 150 countries, with the booklet translated into 67 languages.

Area Students Qualify for Speech State

Polk County speech teams are heading to Kearney for the State speech meet this week. Cross County (C1) and Shelby-Rising City (C2) will compete on Thursday, while High Plains (D1) and Osceola (D1) will compete on Friday. All competition will take place at Kearney High School.

High Plains Wins District

FRANKLIN — High Plains is the District Speech champions. High Plains speech team competed on March 8 at the D1-4 District at Franklin High School. The Storm finished with 230 points, edging six other teams for the title. Osceola finished third at the district with 170 points.

Churches Discuss Future Denomination Affiliation

As members of The United Methodist Church (UMC) debate the church’s stance on human sexuality, some congregations are considering whether they wish to leave the denomination. Recently many UMC parishes have voted on whether to stay with the denomination or leave.

Free Yoga Class for Beginners coming to Osceola March 24

The Polk County Health Dept, Four Corners Health Dept., and Polk County Senior Services are hosting a Free Yoga Class For Beginners. The class is March 24 at 1 p.m. St Vincent Catholic Hall, Osceola. This is an opportunity to learn about Yoga, or get reacquainted with Yoga.
