Will the Vrbka Trio Lead the Huskies to a State Championship?

SHELBY - Shelby-Rising City grapplers have a lot going for them with five returning state qualifiers, and three of those share the last name Vrbka.Senior Collin Vrbka came home with the Class D 285-weight class championship and will lead the Huskies this year as the lone senior.

Vrbka Works Hard to Excel in Agriculture, Football and Wrestling

SHELBY – It’s early afternoon at the Polk County Fairgrounds in Osceola and Shelby-Rising City senior Collin Vrbka had been up at 5 a.m. getting work done for the event, as his family has been involved for many years.

Huskies End Season With A Shut-Out from Cougars

FAIRFIELD - The Huskies saw their season come to an end Friday after being shut out on the road.Class D-1 No. 1 Sandy Creek (11-0) handed No. 8 Shelby-Rising City (9-2) a 54-0 loss on a rainfilled night. The Cougars are the only team to defeat the Huskies this year, getting a 28-6 win on Sept. 6.

Same Opponent, Same Result for S-RC

SHELBY– In 2019, Shelby-Rising City made the Class C-2 playoffs, but finished the regular season with a lopsided loss to Aquinas, only to have to go through a similar fate a week later in first-round play.

Huskies Win Over Hampton, Lose to BDS

YORK - The Shelby-Rising City Huskies first took on Hampton Saturday morning.They won in three sets, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-17.Hampton led the first set, and the Huskies tied it at 20 with an ace serve by Taya Pinneo, but couldn’t quite finish on top. Also serving an ace was Brooklyn Baker.

Eickmeier, Pokorney hit TD Trifecta in S-RC Win

SHELBY – Dalton Pokorney has been a reliable rebounder for the Shelby-Rising City basketball team during recent year and as the clock expired on the first half of his team’s football game against Mc-Cool Junction, he used that talent for one of his three touchdowns on Friday night.

Osceola & SRC triangular at Meridian

DAYKIN - Tuesday night was a triangular at Meridian with Osceola, Shelby-Rising City and Meridian. First was Meridian and Shelby-Rising City. Meridian won in 2 sets, 25-18 and 25-16. Next was county teams Osceola vs. Shelby-Rising City. The Huskies took the first set 25-20.
