Battle of the Huskies Won by SRC

SHELBY– Shelby-Rising City’s football team made a strong defensive statement with a balanced offense as the home team won the battle of the Huskies by a 48-0 margin over Heartland Friday night.

Lady Huskies Score Their First Win

HAMPTON - Husky volleyball traveled to Hampton for their first official match. From the JV game, it looked like a close matchup. JV’s second set went to 29-27 before the third went to Hampton. The first set was a bit rough for the Huskies.

GIRLS SOFTBALL Panthers 1-2 at Tourney WISNER — Blue River went 1-2 on the day at the NEN Viper Softball Tournament. Pierce 12, Blue River 3 The Bluejays scored 12 runs on just 3 hits as Panther pitchers walked 10 batters. Blue River also committed three errors in the field.

Blue River Gets First Win of the Season

DAVID CITY – The Panthers saw their rally fall just short to open the season. Blue River scored all 9 of their runs in the final four innings, but fell just short falling 10-9 in the first game of a double-header. The defense committed 5 errors in the field.

Shelby-Rising City volleyball moves to class D1 this year. They lost five seniors from last year, including star player Liberty Baker (who plays volleyball for York University). Three girls return with some experience: Alex Larmon, Ava Larmon and Taya Pinneo.

After a bitter end in the first round of playoffs last year, the Shelby-Rising City Huskies have lofty goals for this season. This group wants to advance deep in the playoffs, and achieve a district title.

District assignments announced

The Nebraska School Activities Association has announced fall district assignments. Cross County, High Plains, Osceola and Shelby-Rising City athletes now know what schools they will have to compete against for an opportunity to go to state.

Shelby-RC Announces Girls’ Wrestling Co-Op

Shelby-Rising City School has announced a girls’ wrestling co-op. The school board voted for a co-op for girls’ wrestling with East Butler and David City, just like the softball co-op. This is a 2-year agreement and will be re-assessed after that.

All-Star Volleyball at CCC

COLUMBUS -- Just when they thought volleyball was over, there was one more all-star game. This time Cross County coaches and three Polk County girls played at Central Community College in Columbus.
