STROMSBURG — Despite a 32-point performance by Taya Pinneo, Shelby-Rising City lost its C2-7 semifinal contest to Centennial Tuesday to finish 10-12 on the season.

SHELBY — Like the first time they played the Class D-2 No. 3 Osceola Bulldogs would take a big lead early on the Shelby/Rising City Huskies, only to have the Huskies tighten the game before the Bulldogs would close out the game with a big run.

Polk County will be well-represented this weekend at State wrestling as 12 wrestlers have qualified to compete. Cross County/Osceola qualified one wrestler. High Plains has five wrestlers competing at State. Shelby- Rising City is sending a school record six wrestlers to Omaha.

Girls Basketball Subdistrict Opponents Announced

Polk County girls’ basketball teams learned their postseason path on Thursday when the NSAA announced subdistrict host sites and pairings. Cross County and Shelby-Rising City could face off in a C2 subdistrict final, while Osceola and High Plains could face off in a D2 subdistrict final.

KEARNEY — The Huskies finished fourth on Saturday at the 2023 NSAA State Dual Championships. The Huskies were one of eight teams completing in Class D. Shelby-Rising City started the day with a 45-31 win over Anselmo- Merna.
