Huskies golf season ends at district meet

OAKLAND — Illness struck at the worst possible time. Shelby-Rising City concluded its golf season on Tuesday at the C-2 District meet at Oakland Golf Club. According to Huskies coach Sara Jenson, three of the five varsity players were sick for the meet.

Huskies Top Titans

GENOA — Shelby-Rising City are on a roll, winners of four of their last five games thanks to  a 22-8 win over Twin River on Friday. The Huskies ran the ball 46 times for 202 yards and gained 243 total yards of offense.

Huskies volleyball gets win over Tigers

SHELBY — Shelby-Rising City picked up a convincing win over Palmer in three sets on Thursday. The Huskies (12-7) defeated the Tigers (4-13) in straight sets, 25-11, 25-17, 25-16. Individual stats are not available from the match. Shelby-Rising City takes on Schuyler at home on Tuesday.

Huskies golfers wrap-up regular season

CAIRO — Shelby-Rising City girls’ golf team wrapped up the regular season on Thursday, posting a team score of 460 at the Centura Invite at Centura Hills Golf Course. Jenna Logan was the Huskies top finisher with a score of 108. Aurora Slusarski shot a 112, while Lillian Wetjen shot a 113.

Blue River heads to Subdistrict with loss to Milford

MILFORD — Blue River wrapped up the regular season on Thursday with a 5-3 loss to Milford. The Eagles used a three-run sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie and take control of the season finale. The Panthers would rally in the top of the seventh, but only manage to get one more run.

CLARKS — It is a battle of two teams heading in opposite directions. High Plains and Palmer are both 2-3 on the year. Friday will be a game between two teams fighting to even their record and salvage their seasons.

SHELBY — Shelby-Rising City dropped a close first set against East Butler, but responded by winning three straight sets to get the win. The Huskies (11-7) defeated the Tigers, 23-25, 25-18, 25-9, 25-19. Liberty Baker The Huskies had 53 kills as a team in the match.
