Huskies Finish 12th at GICC Invite

GRAND ISLAND — Shelby-Rising City girls golf finished in 12th place Thursday at the GICC Invite at Indianhead Golf Club in Grand Island. The Huskies shot a 553, finishing 265 over par at the event. Broken Bow shot a 353 to take team honors.

Huskies Fall in Opener, 44-22

HENDERSON — It was not the way the Huskies wanted to start the year. Shelby-Rising City (0-1) dropped a 44-22 game to Heartland (1-0) on the road to open to the 2022 campaign. It was the story of two halves Friday night. The first half was all Heartland.

Huskies Finish 7th at Seward Invite

SEWARD — Shelby-Rising City finished 7th on Friday at the Seward Invite. The Huskies finished with a team score of 456. Senior Aurora Slusarski shot a 104 to finish in the top 25 for the day. Jenna Logan shot a 105. Clare Willis finished with a 120 and Loralie Logan finished with a 127.

Huskies Split Games to Open Season

SHELBY — The Huskie volleyball team opened the season Tuesday with a pair of games. Shelby-Rising City fell 25-12, 25-16 to North Bend. The Huskies defeated Madison 29-27, 25-14. The team travels to Cross County tonight for a 6 p.m. match up.

Blue River Goes 2-1 at Wisner Invite

WISNER — Blue River went 2-1 at the Wisner Invite over the weekend. The team dropped the morning match up to NEN 17-3. The ladies bounced back to get a 9-5 win over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder. Nicole Martensen led Blue River with 3 RBI and Rylie Carter added 2 RBI in the contest.

Huskies Ready for Week 1

SHELBY — The Huskies are on the hunt and are ready to hit someone not in a Shelby-Rising City jersey. Shelby coach Zach Kubik said that the off-season workouts has created a more unified team. He said the consistency has been good for his squad. “The team is coming together,” he said.

Huskies Shoot 166 at Friend

FRIEND — Shelby-Rising City hit the road on Monday for a dual with Exeter-Milligan at Friend Golf Club. The varsity finished with a team score of 166, led by Aurora Slusarski’s 51 to take medalist honors on the nine holes.

NORFOLK — The Huskies dropped their final tune-up before the regular season opens next week, falling 25-23, 25-18 to Norfolk Catholic on Monday. The Huskies open the season Tuesday at home against North Bend and Madison.
