Lindsleys Compete in National Rodeos

Recently Grant Lindsley, a 2022 graduate of Shelby-Rising City High School competed at the College National Finals in Casper, Wyoming for rodeo. He has been competing in rodeo for as long as he can remember. He has a passion for horses and competing. He also competed in sports in high school.

TEN YEARS AGO July 12, 2012 The Shelby-Rising City High School Student Council and National Honor Society members are teaming up to sponsor a blood drive for the American Red Cross. The blood drive will be on Friday, July 20, 2012 from noon to 6 p.m. at the American Legion.

LIBRARY NEWS

The Grand Finale for the Shelby Community Library Summer Event, will be held at the Shelby Park on Saturday, July 23rd from 9 am to 12 pm. Open to all children, pre-school through 12th Grade is welcome to attend.

Student Graduates from Drake University

Liliana Roman from Shelby recently graduated from Drake University at the end of the spring 2022 semester. She received her doctorate in Occupational Therapy Drake University is a midsize, private university in Des Moines, Iowa, enrolling more than 3,000 undergraduate and 1,800 graduate students.

Booster Club Steak Fry set for Aug. 6

SHELBY — The Shelby-Rising City Booster Club Steak Fry is Saturday, Aug. 6 from 6-10 p.m. at the Shelby Legion Club. Couple tickets are $65 at the door. Individual tickets are $45 at the door. Tickets get you a steak dinner and membership to booster club.

It’s Christmas in July at Shelby Library

SHELBY — Christmas comes early in Shelby as the library gears up for a Christmas Ornament Painting Class. Mix and match four different ornaments at the class on Saturday, July 23 at 10 a.m. The cost is just $14. Interested artists need to register by Saturday at the library.

Blood Pressure Clinics

Clinics to monitor blood pressure will also be held at the Polk County Health Department in Osceola, every 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Walk-ins are welcome any day during office hours.

Pedicure Clinic is Wednesday

Pedicure clinics will be held at the Polk County Health Department the 1st Wednesday morning and 3rd Wednesday afternoon of every month. Please call the health department at 402-747- 2211 to make an appointment.

Watch Out For West Nile Virus

West Nile Virus is the leading disease carried by mosquitos in the continental United States. It is spread through the bite of a mosquito that has picked up the virus by feeding on an infected bird. In turn, the mosquito can pass the virus to humans.
