Siffring, Carter Selected as Girls’ State Representatives

The Rising City American Legion Auxiliary, John Saylor Unit #146, has selected Aubree Siffring, a junior at Shelby-Rising City High School, to be their 2023 delegate to Nebraska Cornhusker Girls State. Aubree is the daughter of Kevin and Rachel Siffring of Rising City.

Polk County Celebrates Cancer Survivors at Luncheon

OSCEOLA — The Polk County Health Department hosted a lunch for cancer survivors last Wednesday at the Polk County Fairgrounds. Darla Winslow, director of the health department gave the welcoming comments. She stated it’s been five years since their last lunch, due to COVID.

National Public Health Week

National Public Health Week is April 3-9. This year’s theme is “Centering and Celebrating Cultures in Health.” This theme highlights that culture shapes our health. This can look different for everyone. The community we are born into affects how we deal with health.

Inventure Day Teaches Students How to be Entrepreneurs

Shelby Fire & Rescue Announces Award Winners

Shelby Fire & Rescue held it’s annual awards night on Sunday. The awards were presented by President Gene Schlesinger, Fire Chief Jon Eller and EMT Captain Denise Humlicek. Jared Whitmore was named Firefighter of the Year. Larry Tworek received the Community Service Award.
