SHELBY – Saturday Shelby- Rising City hosted their wrestling tournament. The team came in fourth with four guys placing first: Collin Vrbka, Jett Vrbka, Eli Fjell and Carter Eickmeier. In addition, Logan Lindsley placed second.138: Carter Eickmeier placed first. Eickmeier started with a bye.

FRIEND — Taya Pinneo scored her 1,000th career point on Saturday as Shelby-Rising City finished third at the Exeter-Milligan/Friend Holiday Tournament.

Lady Storm Takes Third in East Butler

BRAINARD – The Lady Storm went to East Butler for their holiday tourney. First on Friday they played Walthill, and lost in the last few minutes 51-46. On Saturday they played Cedar Bluffs in the consolation game, and won 37-30 for third place.

PLATTEVIEW – High Plains and Shelby-Rising City wrestled at Platteview on Saturday. Shelby- Rising City placed 8th and High Plains 14th out of 16 teams.Both Coy Vrbka and Eli Fjell of Shelby-Rising City scored their 100th wins at this meet. Eli Fjell also placed first.

Lady Cougars Gored by Bison Defense for First Loss

STROMSBURG – Two of the better defensive teams in the area met up Saturday at Cross County High and Central City forced 21 turnovers and got 18 points from freshman Journi Schindler in a 37-27 road win over the Cougars.
