Cross County Robotics U.S. Open

Cross County Open teams O5155S and O5155J competed at the Create U.S. Open in Council Bluffs over the weekend. On the final day of the US Open, robotics team O5155S looked to battle up from 23rd and O5155J finished in a respectable 7th. The teams partnered up to finish 6th place.

Stromsburg Business Closing in May

STROMSBURG — After 4 years, Untamed Roan in Stromsburg is closing. Owner Kristin Nuttelman has expressed this change is due to her life changes. She stated on her Facebook page that she “would like to start with a heartfelt Thank You for your support over the last 4 years.

Swedish Festival

Plans are moving forward for the June 16-18 Stromsburg Swedish Midsommar Festival. The next planning meeting will be held at the Stromsburg Public Library on Tuesday, April 11, starting at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Committee heads are encouraged to attend at least one meeting.

National Public Health Week

National Public Health Week is April 3-9. This year’s theme is “Centering and Celebrating Cultures in Health.” This theme highlights that culture shapes our health. This can look different for everyone. The community we are born into affects how we deal with health.

Inventure Day Teaches Students How to be Entrepreneurs

SHELBY — Polk County eighth graders are well on their way to becoming the next generation of entrepreneurs. Last week more than 70 eighth grade students gathered at Shelby- Rising City for Inventure Day.

Cross County Students Job Shadow Businesses

Cross County Jamboree

Cross County held their annual basketball jamboree to raise money for the summer band trip. The team called “Rubber Duckies” was crowned the champion.
