STROMSBURG - Cross County hosted C2-4 District one act on Wednesday (Dec. 3rd). Ravenna was first and qualifies for state. Cross County placed second (runner up). The Cougars' play was entitled "Comic Book Artist" by Pat Lydersen.

STROMSBURG - A special item is coming to Stromsburg, a “dala doe” sculpture made by Marilyn Tenney of Lyons. This dala doe is a Nebraskan twist of the traditional Swedish dala horse.

Polk County NewsSTROMSBURG - Veterans’ Day program was on Tuesday, and one veteran was honored and another received a quilt of valor.This Quilt of Valor was sewn by Sawyer Mundt, through our Quilts of Valor 4-H workshop. It was awarded to Gordon Olsen.

It’s definitely November, though the weather is milder than it could be. Driving through Stromsburg one sees several colorful trees, the only problem is it doesn’t last long! Yet it is a beautiful reminder of God’s creation and the beauty only He can create.

CROSS COUNTY BOE RECOGNIZED WITH AWARD

STROMSBURG - The Cross County board of education received a board of excellence award from the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB). This award is only given to schools who meet the criteria. This year 14 schools statewide received such recognition. Cross County is one of those fourteen.

The weekend of August 15th and 16th had two vehicle accidents in Polk County.Friday (August 15th) about 11:50 AM a two-vehicle injury accident was reported near the Highway 81 and 124th Road intersection south of Stromsburg.

Since 2013 with the exception of a three-year hiatus because of COVID-19 the staff at Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg has put on a Prom Night event for the residents at Midwest.On Wednesday night the 2025 version of that event took place with the theme of the night being Enchanted Garden.

School Day Disrupted by Shooter Hoax

STROMSBURG - Cross County Community Schools was on lockdown for part of Monday after a possible shooter was reported. Dispatch received a call at 11:35 AM that an intoxicated male with a gun was on school grounds. The school was contacted and directed to go into lockdown.
