Governor-Elect Jim Pillen Announces Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol

LINCOLN, NE – Nebraska Governor-elect Jim Pillen announced he will be retaining Colonel John Bolduc as the Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol.

Here we are in the week of Thanksgiving. Everyone at our Senior Center sends their Happy Thanksgiving Greetings to you. Enjoy the Thanksgiving fun, food and getting together with family and friends. Turkey and dressing and pumpkin pie sound delicious or whatever foods you enjoy.

Christmas at the Senior Center

Come celebrate Christmas, Sunday, December 11th, with coffee and doppe at the Viking Center hosted by the Stromsburg Senior Center. Doors open at 2 PM—with a 50-minute program to follow of wit and songs at 2:20 by PruDense.

CC Robotics Teams Shine on Home Court

STROMSBURG — Saturday Cross County hosted a Vex robotics tournament. Thirty-three teams participated from all over Nebraska.

Wendy Pokorney was the winner of the Polk County News online contest for the month of October. Subscribers were given the opportunity to send us an email to set up their free online account for the Polk County News website and be entered into a drawing for Chamber Bucks. Congrats, Wendy!

Sheriff to Serve on State Advisory Committee

LINCOLN — Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts announced appointments for numerous boards and commissions on Tuesday. Included in the list of appointments was Polk County Sheriff Dwaine Ladwig of Osceola being appointed to the Racial Profiling Advisory Committee.

Congratulations to our volleyball team winning districts and qualifying for the state tournament in Lincoln! The season didn’t end the way the girls wanted, but man what a season and you have so much to be proud of! One-Act season is off and running and the crew has competed at two events.

Cross County FCCLA Hosting a Swedish Family Baking Event

Join Cross County FCCLA and Sharon Noyd as Sharon demonstrates how to make Swedish lace cookies and Rosettes. All are welcome to join on November 17th from 4:00-6:00 in the FCS room at Cross County Schools. All supplies will be provided. We would love to have you!

The Stromsburg Senior Center will have a Medicare meeting on November 21st at 2:30 p.m. Becky Romshek from Aging Partners will be there to update seniors on the changes for 2023. Everyone is welcome!
