  First of all, I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Monica Tidyman for all her years of service to the Stromsburg Library. I know our patrons enjoyed her wonderful service and help over the past ten or more years. We wish Monica the best in her new endeavor, although we will miss her here.

History of Voting in the United States

In the Constitution in 1789, voting was limited to property- owning or tax-paying white males (about 6% of the population. The Naturalization Act of 1790 limited citizenship to free white persons.

Covenant Home Clips

Oh the spooks and goblins and other creatures who invaded Midwest Covenant Home on Halloween! What fun for all! We had pumpkins running around, a pink crayon, sleeping beauty, and some creepy creature from who knows where, and Liberace’s double. We even had a receipt running around and a banana.

Stromsburg, Wakefield mayors make friendly wager

STROMSBURG — Scrambled eggs have never tasted so good. Stromsburg Mayor Ken Everingham will be feasting on eggs this week after winning his friendly wager with Wakefield Mayor Paul Eaton.

Eat Waffles, Help Support Stromsburg Ambulance Squad

STROMSBURG — There are so many ways the community helps the Stromsburg Ambulance Squad. But the tastiest way is coming Sunday, November 6. The annual Waffleman fundraiser returns Sunday, November 6 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Stromsburg Fire Barn, located at 5th and Commercial streets.

Pharmacy Updates Closing Information Details

The Polk County News first reported on Yungdahl’s Apothecary closing in the October 13 edition. Tooley’s Pharmacy in Osceola will soon be the only pharmacy in the county. Yungdahl’s Apothecary owner Marsha Yungdahl issued the following press release this week regarding the upcoming closing.

Farm Community Assists Peterson Family

Farmers from Stromsburg, Polk, Hordville and Clarks rallied around the Peterson family over the weekend to help bring in the harvest following the death of Nate Peterson, who died in a car accident September 16.

CC Robotics Win at Brownell Talbot

Cross County Robotics continued their winning way as team 5155A was named tournament champs and skills champ at Brownell Talbot over the weekend. Team 5155A put up a score of 216 which puts them 24th in the world. Team 5155E received the Judge's Award. Team 5155E finished fourth in skills.
