Blood Pressure Clinics

Clinics to monitor blood pressure will also be held each Tuesday of the month.

Immunization Clinics Nov. 9, 21

The Polk County Health Department will hold immunization clinics at the Polk County Health Department in Osceola on Wednesday, November 9th from 3:30 to 5:30 and Monday, November 21st from 3:30 to 5:30. An appointment is required for compliance to the COVID-19 directives.

Sparrow Publications Acquire a Second Newspaper

Sparrow Publications, LLC (the owner of the Polk County News) is acquiring another newspaper.After negotiations and everything falling into place, we have purchased the Nance County Journal from Bill and Jan Thompson.

Now to resume the tour of Polk county rural churches as inspired by Diana Langer and the Historical Society programs and display boards which can be seen at the St. John’s church on the museum grounds. We left off with the Wesley Chapel site and cemetery and now proceed up into “the valley.”

First of all, I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Monica Tidyman for all her years of service to the Stromsburg Library. I know our patrons enjoyed her wonderful service and help over the past ten or more years. We wish Monica the best in her new endeavor, although we will miss her here.

Stromsburg Baptist Church Hosts Ken Mikle

Speaker Ken Mikle will be presenting a message on November 13th 6-8 p.m. at Stromsburg Baptist Church. Olive Tree Ministries is blessed to have Ken Mikle as a speaker/presenter.

History of Voting in the United States

In the Constitution in 1789, voting was limited to property- owning or tax-paying white males (about 6% of the population. The Naturalization Act of 1790 limited citizenship to free white persons.

Covenant Home Clips

Oh the spooks and goblins and other creatures who invaded Midwest Covenant Home on Halloween! What fun for all! We had pumpkins running around, a pink crayon, sleeping beauty, and some creepy creature from who knows where, and Liberace’s double. We even had a receipt running around and a banana.
