Carl Johnson Named Fan of the Week

Carl Johnson welcomed special visitors (including his great-grandson Jackson) when a few of the Cross County football players presented him with a new Cross County Cougars t-shirt as MCH’s Fan of the Week. Carl graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1948.

Motorists Urged to Use Caution to Avoid Collisions With Deer

Deer are more active this time of the fall. Crops are being harvested and deer breeding season is in full swing. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has suggestions to help drivers avoid deer-vehicle accidents and lessen the risk of injury or vehicle damage.

Get a Flu Shot in October

The Polk County Health Department will be giving flu shots in the senior/community centers at the following locations. Please REGISTER for an appointment at the location of your choice. Bring your Medicare card.

Pedicure Clinic

Pedicure clinics will be held at the Polk County Health Department the 1st Wednesday morning and 3rd Wednesday afternoon of every month. Please call the health department at 402-747-2211 to make an appointment.

Stromsburg Won County Pool

Karl Eckert and Terry Noyd recently brought the county pool trophy to Stromsburg. The Polk County Senior Pool Tournament is held on the last Monday of each month. Eckert and Noyd won the traveling trophy on Sept. 26. Each of the four county senior centers takes a turn playing host to the event.

The modified 18th Annual Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center fall health fair was held on Tuesday, October 4th.
