Cougars Squeak by Wildcats

STROMSBURG – The St. Paul Wildcats came to Stromsburg to face the Cougars. The Cougars won 22-20 and moved to 3-3.St. Paul got the ball first but punted after four downs. The Cougars followed similarly with runs by Eli Greenwall and Tyion Francis before punting. St.

Slammers End Season with Loss to York

YORK – During losses this season, the Polk County Slammers have made an average of three errors per game and in Class B-8 sub-district semifinal play Monday afternoon the trend continued to the team’s detriment.

Boone Central Crushes Cougars

STROMSBURG – After winning the NSAA Class C-1 state football title, Boone Central graduated a slew of seniors and de-consolidated with Newman Grove to move down to the Class C-2 level.

Cougars Play Hard, Come Up Short Against Cardinals

DONIPHAN – The Cougars traveled to Doniphan for a road game. The game was close, but the Cougars fought hard and came up short, 28-24.The Cardinals got the ball first, and ended up punting. The Cougars took the ball a few yards, but couldn’t convert.

Cougars Edge High Plains as Part of Triangular

STROMSBURG – In the midst of eight matches in a five-day stretch, Cross County’s volleyball team battled Polk County rival High Plains and won a 30-28, 2519 decision over High Plains at a home triangular Thursday.

Big Plays Spur Cougars to 2nd Victory

STROMSBURG–CrossCounty head football coach Mitch Boshart had expected that his Cougars had big-play potential as his team readied for the 2024 season and on Friday he saw it in spades and his team had long scoring plays via kick return, pass and the running variety.

Cross County Takes Bison to 5 Sets

CENTRAL CITY - What may have looked like a lopsided matchup with C1 undefeated Central City Bison taking on C2 2-2 Cougars was not when they met on the court. It went to five sets, and Central City took the win but not without controversy.

Cougars Even Mark at 1-1 with Homecoming Win

STROMSBURG –After turning the ball over a handful of times in an opening-night loss, the Cross County football team made a few breaks of their own and the Cougar offense made big strides during a 16-14 Homecoming win over Gibbon last Friday night to move to 1-1 overall.

Lady Cougars Win Over Huskies

STROMSBURG – It seemed appropriate that match point in Thursday night’s Cross County 28-26, 25-17, 25-21 volleyball victory over Shelby-Rising City was a Sydney Hengelfelt kill, her 16th of the night.
