Can county teams go 4-0 this week?

CLARKS — It is a battle of two teams heading in opposite directions. High Plains and Palmer are both 2-3 on the year. Friday will be a game between two teams fighting to even their record and salvage their seasons.

Slammers set new season win record

OSCEOLA — The Polk County Slammers have surpassed their season high for wins with a 6-2 win over Aquinas on Tuesday. The Slammers have won 21 games this year with one left to play. Polk County capitalized on a three RBI night from Kylee Krol, who hit a home run in the win.

Storm beat Mustangs in four sets

McCOOL JUNCTION — High Plains improved to 13-5 on the year with a four set win over McCool Junction on Tuesday. The Storm jumped out to a quick two set lead, 25-12, 25-13, before the Mustangs battled back to take a back-and-forth third set 26-24.

Carlstrom Reaches Milestone

High Plains sophomore Courtney Carlstrom was recently honored by the Storm volleyball team for reaching the 500 career assist milestone. The sophomore setter achieved the milestone last week at the triangular match at Dorchester.

Fast Start Not Enough for Storm

CLARKS —High Plains got out to a fast start on Friday, but Nebraska Lutheran were able to weather the storm for a 44-34 come-from-behind win. The Storm came out hot, scoring 22 points in the opening quarter.

Slammers Win 2 at Hastings Tourney

HASTINGS — The Polk County Slammers continues their hot play, picking up their 20th win on the season over the weekend at Hastings. The Slammers used a six-run second inning to jump out on Gering in an 11-7 win.

Storm Win 2, Huskies Split at Dorchester

Dorchester — The High Plains and Shelby-Rising City volleyball teams headed to Dorchester last Thursday night for a volleyball triangular. First up was High Plains versus Dorchester. High Plains won in straight sets, 25-23, 25-17.

Osceola Schools would like to congratuate junior Courtney Sunday on breaking the RBI record for the Polk County Slammers. Heading into Tuesday’s game with Aquinas, Sunday had 36 RBI so far this season. The slugger is batting 0.380 this season and is second on the Slammers with 10 doubles.

Slammers win 2, Panthers get split

DAVID CITY — The Slammers picked up a pair of wins on Thursday, defeating Blue River and York. The Polk County Slammers defeated Blue River 11-3 on Thursday. Individual stats are not available.
